Michele Reid: A Biography

Born and raised in sunny California, my health and fitness background began as a track and field athlete at the age of 7 and continued through college where I received a full athletic scholarship to the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. While at Washington I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, but I knew that my heart would lead me into the field of exercise science. My interest in the health and fitness field continued in academia which led me to receive a Masters of Science in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in biomechanics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I am currently a PhD. candidate in the field of Holistic Nutrition.

Pursuing advanced education has definitely opened up many opportunities in my life so far. I previously worked as a physical therapy technician, high school assistant track coach, personal trainer and have done quite a bit of fitness modeling and competitions. I was fortunate to have made the cover of MUSCLE AND FITNESSHERS, July/August ’07.

For my full-time job, I work with a company where I can utilize my education, experiences, and health and fitness interests. Life Measurement, Inc. is a company that manufactures a body composition machine that measures body fat and lean muscle mass called the BOD POD®. As Manager of the Customer Service Department, Domestic and International, I have traveled to just about every state and many foreign countries. I have been exposed to the cutting edge health and wellness facilities, elite athletic training centers and the latest research in health and wellness in general.

My goals to date are simple: 1) Gain much more experience in the fitness/modeling industry, 2) Use this exposure and my educational background to establish a platform for advocating and educating others on the power of living a life full of vitality, and 3) Open up a state of the art wellness facility that caters to all socioeconomic levels in various communities.
