Guest Speaker – Urban Christian Academy, Savannah, GA

I was so excited to speak to the teens at this school along with my good friend and former 12 year NFL player Dwayne Harper. Dwayne spoke to the young men about how to make a successful life both on and off the playing field, what to expect as a student – athlete and professional football player and gave them very important tips on living a positive life in general. I spoke to the young women about taking control of their health and their mind so that they have the tools to reach whatever their vision in life is. It was truly a blessing to see how motivated these kids were and to see a spark of hope in their eyes.

My first competition since 2006!

Ok so I am just getting my feet wet with this one. I have not competed since 2006 and at that time I did 2 shows within 1 month. That was crazy! This time I entered the INBA / ABA Bay Area Natural show held in San Jose. It was a small show but nevertheless I won the Sports Model Category. I trained a little differently for this one because the judges were not looking for a lot of muscle definition. In general, what worked for my body type was to really focus on eating NO processed foods and A LOT of nutrient filled vegetables and fruits (This is really how I eat year round anyway!) I did cardio pretty intensely 2 times per week for 20 minutes (speed interval training). Finally I did high rep strength training for my lower body and high weight strength training for my upper body.

The Long “No-Workout” String

It has been a while but I am getting back on track with my site. I personally have had a long “no-workout” string and I am itching to get back into it. I did a basic cardio and upper body workout Monday and I am very sore. It feels good because I know that I am in the beginning stages of tightening and toning my body. I forgot for a moment how much exercise diminishes stress levels! After traveling all day I am tired but I plan to do 100 crunches and a pilates glute and leg workout in my hotel room.

The one thing that has allowed me to maintain my body composition during this string of not being consistent with my workouts is what I have chosen to put in my body. Bottom line is that I HAVE been consistent with getting A LOT of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats and oils (omega 3, flax oil, avocado, vitamin E etc.). Everyday I make a decision NOT to eat the deadly processed and denatured foods.

September 24th – September 27th – LAS VEGAS!!

This weekend I will be a spokesmodel representing Muscle and Fitness and Muscle and Fitness HERS at the 2009 Olympia Bodybuilding / Fitness and Figure Competition and Expo. I will be educating people on the Body Composition System called the BOD POD in which I am Director of Customer Service for the company that manufactures it – Life Measurement. Inc..
